Billy Mitchell Air National Guard Base - 440th Airlift Wing Challenge Coin
General Mitchell Air Reserve Station (GMARS) in Wisconsin, originally established in 1941 as General Mitchell Field, was home to the 440th Airlift Wing. It played a significant role in supporting paratroop and glider missions during World War II. In 2005, the Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommended its closure, which was completed on February 2, 2008.
